The County's 2025 building regulations exempt, subject to other County review and laws, one-story detached accessory buildings used as tool/storage sheds, patio covers, playhouses, playground or athletic equipment and similar uses up to 120 sq. ft. and 12 ft. high; wood fences up to 8 ft. and other-material fences up to 6 ft. unless supporting a surcharge or structural element; oil derricks; movable cases, counters, and partitions up to 5 ft. 9 in.; retaining walls up to 4 ft. unless supporting a surcharge or Class I, II, or III-A liquids; and direct-grade water tanks up to 5,000 gallons with a height-to-diameter/width ratio no greater than 2:1. Exemptions do not authorize code-violating work or waive zoning, electrical, plumbing, fire, or other approvals.
