Regulatory framework
The code baseline for Navajo County.
Navajo County publishes the 2018 International Residential Code, 2018 International Building Code, Navajo County Addenda and Additions, and a 2006 IRC stair-building reference; the county’s construction materials also require applicable Arizona Administrative Code Title 18 requirements for environmental/septic work.
Inspection lane
Inspections are required for all construction phases, including footings, foundations, under-floor, framing, shear wall, roof sheathing, electrical, plumbing, drywall, meter loop, gas, septic and signs. Request an inspection from the Building Department number printed on the permit, providing permit number, permit-holder name, inspection type, site address and responsible-person phone; inspections generally require 24-hour notice Monday-Friday. Lines must meet the county’s published gas, water and wastewater test conditions, and all utilities must work for final inspection.
