Which codes and exemptions should I review?

Sweetwater County's permit is a zoning and development approval under the amended 2015 Zoning Resolution; accessible County materials do not establish a general County residential building code or structural-inspection program. State-regulated projects are subject to Wyoming's adopted 2024 International Building Code, 2024 International Fire Code, 2024 International Fuel Gas Code, 2024 International Mechanical Code and 2024 International Existing Building Code; the 2026 National Electrical Code is effective July 1, 2026. No County construction or alteration zoning permit is required for a one-story, detached residential accessory shed or shipping container of 200 square feet or less that meets setbacks; a site-built structure in the Agriculture zoning district normally associated with agriculture, such as a barn; retaining walls, fences, flagpoles, monuments or statuary; roads, bridges, railroads, pipelines, underground tanks, underground mining, consumer utility lines or poles; a manufactured home on a sales lot or in a qualifying nonconforming mobile-home park; roof-mounted onsite solar under 5 kW; or ground-mounted onsite solar whose footprint is under 50% of the primary structure. Accessory uses are exempt from the separate Use Permit, but other agency permits may still apply.

What makes an application complete

A portal submission is only as strong as its supporting record.

Before you click submit, make sure the drawings agree with the site plan, project description, valuation, ownership authorization, and contractor information. If the work changes structure, occupancy, drainage, fire protection, energy performance, or utility demand, describe that scope plainly. Ambiguous narratives create correction cycles and delay the field schedule.

Save the confirmation number, payment receipt, uploaded plan set, and every correction comment. Those records are the backbone of a defensible compliance file when multiple trades or agencies share responsibility.
