Regulatory framework
The code baseline for Sublette County.
Sublette County has not adopted a residential building code, performs no structural building-code inspections and issues no occupancy permits; its building permit is a zoning and land-development approval. The County provides mapped ground-snow-load information but has not adopted an official wind load. State-regulated projects remain subject to Wyoming's 2024 IBC, IFC, IFGC, IMC and IEBC, and the 2026 National Electrical Code is effective July 1, 2026.
Inspection lane
The County does not perform building-code inspections, though Planning and Zoning may make limited visits to verify permit items or determine whether a project has expired. County-inspected septic systems must be inspected before the permit is closed; arrange that through Planning and Zoning at 307-367-4375. For state electrical or Fire Marshal inspection requirements, use the state permit portal or call 307-777-7288 because the state's published Sublette assignment is licensing-only and does not provide a dependable local inspection-booking contact.
