Regulatory framework
The code baseline for Johnson County.
Johnson County reviews land development, subdivisions, lot divisions and exemptions and administers rural addressing, septic and floodplain development, but its zoning regulations remain a draft that the commissioners have not adopted and the County publishes no general building-permit or building-inspection program. For projects within Wyoming State Fire Marshal jurisdiction, the state enforces the 2024 International Fire, Building, Fuel Gas, Mechanical and Existing Building Codes and, effective July 1, 2026, the 2026 National Electrical Code. County subdivision, floodplain and small-wastewater rules apply separately.
