For OSSF work in Camp County, use the TCEQ OARS county-contact search and submit the TCEQ OSSF application and approved planning materials to the permitting authority; TCEQ requires a permit and approved plan before construction, alteration, repair, extension, or operation. The permitting authority must approve or deny a complete application within 30 days. Camp County’s flood-prone-area restrictions should be confirmed with the County Judge at 903-856-3845 before site work.
Camp County’s official 2023 hazard-mitigation plan states that the county has no zoning, has not been FEMA-mapped and does not participate in the NFIP for its unincorporated area, but has adopted regulations prohibiting building in areas prone to flooding. No county building-code edition or general building-permit program is published. For septic work, TCEQ Region 5 administers the state OSSF program under Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 366 and 30 TAC Chapter 285. No county cosmetic-work exemption list is published.
