Haywood County states that it adopted the 2018 International Building Codes on June 1, 2021, effective for seven years. Tennessee’s residential-jurisdiction list identifies Haywood County as EXEMPT from the state residential program because local code enforcement applies. The county also enforces its zoning resolution, flood-hazard provisions, and health/septic approvals.
Inspection lane
Contact the Building Inspector or Code Enforcement office to obtain the county form and schedule required inspections. Applications must include duplicate scale drawings or plans; the county may require written Health Department approval for water supply and sewage disposal. After notification that a building is ready for occupancy, the Zoning Compliance Officer must perform the final inspection and issue or refuse the certificate of occupancy within five days.
